Job opportunity with College Tutors

College Tutors in Mercer Island is currently looking for well-qualified college students or recent graduates to work as tutors. College Tutors is looking for tutors to work with k-12 students, primarily middle and high school, in any (or all!) of the following subject areas:

MATH: elementary math, algebra, geometry, trig, statistics, pre-calc, calc, statistics – including AP levels
SCIENCE: physical science, biology, and chemistry — including AP levels
LANGUAGE: Spanish through high school level 3/4
STUDY SKILLS AND ORGANIZATION: 6th-9th grade overall homework help, study skills, accountability
TEST PREP: ACT and SAT test prep in all subject areas

Hours are flexible to fit in to your schedule and tutor positions will help you build your resume! Tutoring experience is not required, but previous tutoring experience is a definite bonus!

Great experience: Working as a tutor allows college students and grads to apply their knowledge from classes as well as to be a positive influence in the lives of younger students. Teaching is often the best way to learn and reinforce ideas, so tutoring is a valuable experience!

Tutoring at College Tutors is also an excellent way to ease into the teaching profession and to develop a reference that future employers respect. And, at College Tutors, there is a positive and supportive environment where everyone is part of a professional team.

Positions starting now and continuing through Spring 2015 quarter (ongoing positions available if desired, but minimum commitment through early June 2015 is required).

Schedule: You set your schedule within the following hours:

2-3 weekday evenings, Monday through Thursday 3-9pm
1 weekend day: Saturday 9am-3pm

Responsibilities will include: assisting students with coursework and homework, explaining concepts, using school curriculum and textbook as well as College Tutors’ resources to assist in building student’s skill set, and acting as a mentor and role model for each student you work with.

Qualifications
• Must enjoy children and have experience (teaching in some capacity; school setting, church setting, daycare setting, formal tutoring experience, etc).
