Approved for 506 sub (most are academically more challenging than Soc W 506 and presume some prior knowledge of content from that home department, so there may be a learning curve regarding global health, GWSS, etc.):
- Soc W 574 (program evaluation)
- GWSS 503
- G H 531 (some instructors presume GH knowledge before starting so can be challenging)
- G H 538/HSERV 521 (see above and students must have research proposal)
- B H 527
- URBDP 519
- HSERV 589 (only with Bonnie Duran as instructor)
- PB AF 527-528 (more policy oriented, hard to get into them, difficult schedule for those in practicum)
- Students who have previously completed a thesis or research through another graduate program may submit a graduate level paper in lieu of taking the Soc W 506 class. Info at: http://socialwork.uw.edu/sites/default/files/sswfiles/students/505_506_waiver_policy_Aug2012.pdf
- If there is another class that you think should work, you may send s course description/syllabus to Lin Murdock at linm@uw.edu and we’ll assess if it can work.
If you decide to substitute one of the courses above, you do not need pre-approval unless noted, but you will need to email Lin to ask her to move the course into your Soc W 506 spot in your degree audit.
