Research Commons Rooms 2 & 3

LUNCH PROVIDED! RSVP to jennmag@uw.edu by April 10th

Are you frustrated about drug and alcohol use, youth violence and suicide impacting our communities? Did you know that through community empowerment, coalition building, and advocacy through policy change, social workers have played a critical role in prevention?

If any of this seems interesting to you then come to this information session to learn more about an exciting educational opportunity! This program offers a stipend of $1500/year for students accepted into the program!

April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month and a group of students are leading a campus wide effort to educate ourselves on the nature of consent, understand how to support victims and survivors, and highlight that the majority of sexual assaults are committed by someone known to the victim.

In order to change the culture on our campus we invite all UW students to:

  • Watch this video
  • Take the pledge to better our community
  • Visit us at RAINN Day this Friday, April 3rd from 11am-3pm in Red Square

At RAINN Day you will learn about RAINN ‘EM IN. It’s a human powered horse race against sexual violence where teams race on inflatable ponies and UW has a team! The official race in on May 16th and all UW students are welcome to join our team (see attached flyer)! There will be music, giveaways, races, and resources at RAINN Day tomorrow – so stop by, say hello, and bounce on an inflatable pony.

Lavender Grad is open to any student eligible, at any level (undergrad or graduate/professional) for a graduation in the 2014-2015 (including fall 2015) academic year. The Q Center and QSC host Lavender Graduation as a time for the UW queer, trans*, two-spirit, same gender loving, and allied communities to come together and celebrate our multiple identities, our accomplishments, and sheer AWESOMENESS. You do not have to be graduating or be of a certain sexual or gender identity/orientation/expression to participate in and/or attend the Lavender Graduation year-end communities celebration. Everyone is welcome and wanted!!!
