We highly encourage students to explore the following nationally competitive options, open to U.S. citizens. The Office of Fellowships & Awards can provide assistance with preparing applications:
Boren Fellowships: fund up to 12 months overseas—students must incorporate language study into their plans but can combine with independent research, other academic study, or internships (or propose exclusively to study language). This opportunity is currently quite undersubscribed at the graduate level—nationally, approximately 1 out of 3 applicants were awarded last year!
