Director of UW Resident & Fellow Wellness Services – Job Position

The Director of the UW Resident & Fellow Wellness Service is responsible for developing and implementing programs that support a positive learning environment for residents and fellows, and improve the quality of life for our residents, fellows and their families. The Director also provides counseling, therapy and referral services for residents, fellows and others dealing with specific concerns such as depression and suicidality, anxiety, stress, burnout, relationship issues including domestic violence, grief/loss, chemical dependency, and interpersonal conflicts. The Director is a member of the Graduate Medical Education Office within the University of Washington School of Medicine (UWSOM). The Director works closely with the following individuals/entities:
– GME Office, including Wellness Counselors
– GME Leadership including Assistant Dean, Associate Dean and Vice Dean
– Residency and fellowship Program Directors, Chiefs, and Program Administrators
– Chair (and Emeritus Chair) of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
– Washington Physician’s Health Program (WPHP)
– Consulting psychiatrist and others, Learning Specialist(s) and Community Provider(s)

REQUIREMENTS
Master’s in Social Work, Counseling or Psychology. Licensure as a mental health professional (LICSW, LMHC) by the Washington State Department of Health.

Four plus years’ experience in:
– Assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health disorders including suicidality, behavior disorders, and post-partum depression.
– Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
– Ability to work independently with a high degree of reliability, accuracy and productivity.
– Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
– Experience and comfort working with victims of interpersonal violence, with racially and ethnically diverse populations, and with LGBTQ clients.
– Familiarity and practical experience working with models of time-limited and evidence-based psychotherapy.
