My Dog Is My Home 2022 Co-Sheltering Conference – 3/1 – 3/3

My Dog Is My Home is a national nonprofit in the U.S. dedicated to expanding access to shelter for individuals experiencing homelessness with their companion animals.  It is with great enthusiasm that I formally invite the University of Washington’s School of Social Work to attend our 2nd Annual Co-Sheltering Conference, which will be held virtually on March 1-3, 2022.  There are student rates and select conference scholarships available, thanks to the support of PetSmart Charities and Maddie’s Fund.

At the conference, we will educate, entertain, and engage as we pursue equitable access to home for all people with animals in our respective communities around the globe. You’ll hear from government leaders and experts across human service and animal welfare disciplines on topics related to our theme, “Stronger Together: Building Allyship Between Movements.” You may find our complete conference schedule here. Some of our exciting speakers include: Julián Castro – the 16th Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under President Obama, Dr. Kwane Stewart of “The Street Vet” television series, Sterling Davis of TrapKing Humane, Vickie Ramirez of the University of Washington’s Center for One Health Research, tribal liaison Marilou Chanrasmi, Dorothy Edwards of the Corporation for Supportive Housing, Dr. Daniel Brisson of the University of Denver’s Center on Housing and Homelessness, Willie Baronet of We Are All Homeless, and many more. You’ll also be able to enjoy curated storytelling segments, opportunities for interaction, and many giveaways.

As the foundation of co-sheltering is inclusivity, My Dog Is My Home’s conference welcomes participants of all backgrounds.  If any students, faculty, or staff would like to attend, they may find more information on our website and registration page.  Most of the sessions will be recorded and we will email the viewing links to all who register about one month after the conference.
