Apply for the Critical Language Scholarship Program (due 11/19/24)

The CLS Program provides opportunities for American college and university students to study languages and cultures essential to America’s engagement with the world. 

This scholarship awards merit-based scholarships to college students who plan on pursuing careers in government or elsewhere in public service. Truman Scholars receive up to 30,000 for graduate or professional school, participate in leadership development activities, and have special opportunities for internships and employment with the federal government.

An immersive summer opportunity to study critical languages and cultures, the CLS Program offers small classes, individual consultants, and cultural programming. Languages offered: Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, Swahili, Turkish, Urdu. Open to all language levels.

The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program is a program of the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government and supported in its implementation by American Councils for International Education.
