MSW students, consider attending this half-day conference.

The Diversity Leadership Conference is a free, half-day conference hosted at the University of Washington each year to encourage students to strengthen their leadership skills and cultural awareness, engage in critical dialogues about activism and social justice, and network with peers and professionals from similar backgrounds and experiences.

This year, we are excited to present the 11th annual Diversity Leadership Conference, with the theme “Building Belonging: Empowerment in Times of Change” – despite the current state of our global world, we hope to inspire moments of unity and strength in our collective power. While it is easy to focus on negative aspects of our unfolding reality, we want to name and take space in recognizing the positive & empowering important work people have already been and will continue doing. Together, we will engage in a rich array of impactful conversations and workshops designed to strengthen leadership skills, with an emphasis on owning the power of our various identities and communities as we work to ground ourselves in power as we approach the coming years.

Conference Registration

Registration for the 2025 Diversity Leadership Conference is opening in early February. The conference will be held 1pm – 5pm on Friday, February 21, with an additional networking reception for community professionals from 5-6pm. Check back for registration in a few weeks!

Looking for something to do after Thursday classes? Catch the link to Pioneer Square for the First Thursday Art Walk! The Art Walk is a free and self-guided neighborhood event on the First Thursday of every month at participating art galleries, venues, and businesses. There’s free snacks and drinks in various galleries as well as free garage parking after 5!

Join GSEE (Graduate Student Equity & Excellence) for their upcoming Power Hour on January 28 at 3:00 p.m.–4:30 p.m. PST. This theme will be “Finding Rejuvenation Through Art.”

We are grateful to be holding space with Antonia Ramos, M.S., LMHCA, ATR-P, who specializes in art therapy. She will be leading graduate students through exercises and learning techniques that will invite them to rest and reset together. This Power Hour evolved from the suggestion of a few of our graduate students. No matter where you are in your academic program, there is a shared understanding of the weight that course load, finding community, and everyday life can leave us feeling exhausted and defeated.

GSEE Power Hours are designed with introspective and professional growth in mind. Historically underrepresented graduate students participate in interactive discussions surrounding topics that are unique to their academic and professional journeys. We are looking forward to seeing you there!

FREE statistical consulting is available to faculty, students, post-docs, research scientists, etc. affiliated with the University of Washington (broadly defined). Consulting occurs through scheduled 50-minute appointments held via Zoom.

This free service is available to assist with:

•  the design of studies and experiments, including the preparation of grant proposals

•  data visualization and presentation

•  choice and application of statistical methods

•  development of specialized statistical methods in some cases

Clients should come to consulting appointments prepared to summarize the scientific background and aims of their research prior to discussion of particular statistical issues, techniques or analyses.  The consultants have experience primarily with the R statistical analysis system, but they work with clients using whatever statistical package is most convenient for them. (Note: Statistical consulting is for study design and data analysis advice, not software tutorials or support.)

For more information about the Service and to schedule an appointment, click on the following link: UW STATISTICAL CONSULTING SERVICE

About the Consulting Program: This program is a UW course for graduate students in the Departments of Biostatistics and Statistics. Through this course, students learn how to apply their statistical skills to a variety of real-world problems.  Most appointments will have three to four consultants in attendance: two to three student trainees and one faculty advisor. Many problems brought to the consulting program require the consultants to research and discuss possible solutions with program colleagues to determine the most appropriate statistical methods or guidance. In these cases, follow-up appointments are typically scheduled. While resources are limited, some collaboration on actual data analyses can be provided on a case-by-case basis, depending on consultant availability, client needs, the size of the problem, and data analysis tasks

MSW students interested in environmental justice and project development, consider this opportunity with the Foster Buerk Center for Entrepreneurship. Begin forwarded message:
