Hello, SSW community! Week 8 has arrived and, thankfully, it has brought a bit of sunshine and spring weather with it. We hope you find a moment to soak in the sun and reflect on how much you have already accomplished (insert your definition of ‘accomplishment’ here, it looks different for each of us!) this quarter. When you find yourself back in front of a screen, we are available for virtual or in-person writing support sessions for your end-of-quarter course projects, resume refreshes, cover letter bonanzas, and more. 501 Part 2: Policy Solutions – this Saturday, March 1st @ 3:00PM PST on Zoom
Join us for a presentation on the last half of your 501 paper, the Policy Solutions paper. We will cover some common questions, tips, and tools related to writing your final draft. The presentation will be followed by a short Q&A. RSVP here, Zoom link will be provided to all RSVP’s 24 hours prior to the workshop.

Have a quick question between classes or just want a second pair of eyes on your paper? Come visit us in SSW 025 on Thursdays and Fridays!The Writing Center is located in the SSW building next to the Student Services office on the ground floor. Drop-in hours are open for everyone, so we cannot guarantee that these sessions will be 1-on-1. This is a great chance to connect with other students around writing projects and groups are more than welcome!

Tools to track the 2025 Washington State legislative session:

The 2025 Washington state legislative session is nearing a crucial turning point. This Friday, February 28th, is the deadline for proposed legislation to be voted out of policy committee. If the proposed legislature does not pass out of committee by Friday, it does not have a chance to pass this legislative session.
However, tracking legislation as it moves through various committees and checkpoints can be confusing. Thankfully, there is a free website called LegiScan that aggregates publicly available data and presents it in a straightforward manner. While this information is freely available on the Washington State Legislature website, the website itself is not very intuitive. Consequently, LegiScan collects and organizes the information so you can view the progress of bills at a glance and easily filter by legislation type and current status. You can easily see the sponsors of the bills, next scheduled action, results of roll call votes, and more. In short, check out the LegiScan Washington State 2025 Legislative Session tracker!
