Fellowship for Students Working with Elderly – Application Deadline 5/29

Application for current MSW DAY 1 and EDP 2 students.

The Hooyman Intergenerational Fellowship is a merit-based scholarship for students committed to working with older adults and their families.  Award amounts range from $1000 to $2000, depending on the number of qualified applicants. Funded students must be registered at the University of Washington and complete their advanced field placement where they have opportunities to work with older adults and their families.

Applicants should submit their materials electronically to HealthyGen@uw.edu

Applications must include the following:

  1. A one page letter which addresses the following:
  • Statement of interest in working with older people and their families
  • Brief summary of any previous involvement with older people and their families (e.g. employment, volunteer experience, internships, family caregiving)
  • Brief statement of career goals after graduation
  • A written statement indicating your agreement to complete SocW 598 Clinical Social Work Seminar Practice across the Lifespan, the Social and Healthcare Policy in an Aging Society course, and a field placement where you will work with older adults in your advanced year of studies
  1. Names and contact information of three references. They will be contacted only if we need additional information.
  1. A current resume

Applications are due by midnight on Friday, May 29, 2020.

Awardees will be notified of whether they will receive an award by June 5.
