IPE Geriatric Training Program – Register Now!

Hello Health Sciences Students!

  • Do you have an interest in the principles of high quality, interprofessional primary care for older adults?
  • Do you want experience discussing and problem solving real-world primary care of older adults?
  • Do you want to learn more about a team-based approach to care of older adults

Registration is now open for the the unique interprofessional education (IPE) offering- Age-Friendly Healthcare: Interprofessional Training Program!

The opportunity will be offered to health sciences students across UW campuses between October 2022 and May 2023, and participants will be asked to participate in a minimum of three interprofessional telehealth case discussions.  As part of the program a subset of students will also have the chance to engage in an interprofessional fall prevention workshop at Seattle Housing Authority senior living facilities.

The didactic element of this program is led by Dr. Katherine Bennett, Assistant Professor and Program Director of Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program at UW Medicine. In addition, Dr. Patti Matsuda, Assistant Professor and Physical Therapist in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, will be developing the service learning element for students to engage within older adults in the community setting.
