Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction at SSW? Complete Survey – link

Brief survey here: https://catalyst.uw.edu/webq/survey/rufferl/192166
Deadlline: Friday, February 15 3:00 pm
Weʼre trying to gauge interest in a proposed Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction
(MBSR)
course for MSW students and faculty in Spring Quarter.
This would be an 8-week extracurricular course, occurring 6-8:30 pm Mondays in
our building, with an additional Saturday retreat. (The Monday evening time is
based on instructor and room availability.)  We are asking students to
complete the brief survey to indicate whether they have a serious interest in
attending, although this would not commit them to a registration at this time.

This course is offered by the same instructor, Tim Burnett of
Mindfulness Northwest, on an ongoing basis to residents in the UW Graduate
Medical Education program and comes highly recommended as an effective practice
for their students. This is a unique opportunity for SSW students to receive
mindfulness training from a highly qualified instructor who has practiced
mindfulness for over 25 years.

We see the joint attendance by students and faculty to be an important way to spread the message of informed self-care and ongoing
practice to create a healthy School and community environment.
REGISTRATION FEE FOR STUDENTS
We are still trying to figure out funding support so this course is affordable
for students. An individual enrollment in this type of course normally runs
$200+ per person. We are hoping to offer it for $50 or $75 to students; the fee being dependent
upon the other support we are able to garner. This student registration fee
includes the     8-week course
with additional retreat day plus a course handbook and personal practice CD.
We believe this is a MEANINGFUL first step in incorporating self-care into our
professional training. We need to make sure there is sufficient student
interest in this course to make it happen.
And April 1st is rapidly approaching! Please respond via the survey by
Friday, February 15.
