Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) is an empirically validated treatment for a variety of psychiatric disorders. The evidence for IPT supports its use for a variety of affective disorders, including perinatal mood disorders, anxiety disorders, such as PTSD, and eating disorders, and for a wide range of patients from children, adolescents, to the elderly. This course will focus on acute treatment for depression. IPT is recognized as an evidence-based psychotherapy by the American Psychiatric Association, The American Psychological Association, The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence in the UK, and the International Cochrane Collaboration. Level A is open to all interested clinicians at any level of training. We suggest Interpersonal Psychotherapy: A Clinician’s Guide (2nd Edition) as reading prior to the training. Course Description: Participants will learn the basics of IPT for Groups with a specific focus on acute treatment for depression. We suggest Interpersonal Psychotherapy: A Clinician’s Guide (2nd Edition) as reading prior to the training. All participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the course. Completion of an IPT Level A training required to attend this training.
