This is a highly competitive position, offering full tuition plus a salary and benefits for the length of your degree. Eligible candidates include continuing and new MSW students only. The successful candidate will flexibly work 20 hours per week which may include evenings, weekends, and daytime office hours depending in your course schedule and SSW class needs. This fully on-site role involves 10 hours a week at each: The UW School of Social work (SSW) Tech team, and The Center for Social Science Computation and Research (CSSCR).

The role provides direct technical support to the School of Social Work, computer labs, classrooms, meeting rooms, faculty, and staff along with the SSW Tech team. Also, assisting students conducting tutoring/training sessions on applying statistics with common applications such as SPSS, R, etc. at CSSCR with a team of colleagues supporting each other and doing the same across many disciplines. LEAD 298 – “Dialogue, Disagreement, and Democracy” – will model good faith efforts to create bridges across difference and division. Through witnessing weekly discussions, undergraduate students will understand how community leaders find common ground to maintain democratic civility.

Conversations to Remember, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, dedicated towards combating loneliness and isolation felt by senior citizens, is interested in working with students! Their virtual visit program matches 2-3 college students with residents of long-term care, assisted living, and memory care communities for virtual video visits. These residents have been suffering from isolation, and are in need of kindred spirits to brighten their days just by speaking with them. They provide training to the students in the program about the best ways to interact with the seniors, as well as additional support throughout their service. Since these visits are virtual, students can do it without needing travel. This program is free of charge to seniors across the country. See more details below.

Join the UW Libraries this summer for the annual Graduate Student Research Institute (GSRI)!

The Graduate Student Research Institute (GSRI) is a free and asynchronous multi-day online workshop offered by the UW Libraries with the goal of motivating new and returning UW graduate students to explore tools and strategies to research smarter, not harder. 

GSRI can help you to:

  • Become familiar with core tools and resources for research productivity
  • Connect with relevant support units across the UW campuses
  • Build community with other UW students and campus support staff

Students receive five days of online guidance and support from a team of Libraries volunteers as they work through key content and activities from the openly available Graduate Student Research Institute site. There are no required meeting times and learning can take place anytime within the span of the workshop session.

Camp Kesem at the University of Washington is currently looking to fill an open Mental Health Professional position for their week long summer camp in August.

Camp Kesem provides free summer camps for children whose parent or caregiver has cancer and we are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated individual to help support our campers throughout the week and make their camp experience unforgettable! The requirements to apply for this position are a Master’s Degree in social work, psychology, education or a related field, and experience working with children. This position is a 5 day, 4 night commitment and can be done on a volunteer basis or for a stipend. 

Camp Kesem holds two sessions of camp in Cle Elum, WA and are looking for an individual to fill this position at either of the two weeks. The options are:

Session 1: August 11th-15th

Session 2: August 18th-22th

Sharing this volunteer camp counselor opportunity with the Wing Luke Museum for their 2024 Summer Camp season! The Wing Luke is hoping to cultivate a welcoming and affirming experience for this year’s campers and are looking for the following qualities:

  • High school aged or older. There is no age limit: we are looking for folks who are mature, accountable, and open to working with kids and other prospective counselors!
  • Experience with caring for children, such as babysitting
  • Strong interest in teaching art, working with children from a wide range of ages, and helping children explore cultures
  • Must be willing to complete an interview & fill out a background check

Prospective counselors must commit to at least 1 of the following weeks along with an orientation/training: July 22-July 26, July 29-August 2, and/or August 5-9. Hours are 9:00am-4:30pm with breaks. See website for camp themes.

A career fair is a connection opportunity for employers who have open roles and students who are currently in the job search phase. Virtual career fairs are hosted on an online platform; the UW Career & Internship Center uses Handshake, which offers students an opportunity to connect with employers in two ways: 30-minute Group Sessions and 10-minute 1:1 Sessions. Virtual career fairs are a great way for students to meet with representatives of companies that appeal to students’ majors, interests, and goals in a virtual setting, which can be less overwhelming and more efficient than in-person career fairs.

The 2024 Virtual Summer Job & Internship Fair is open to all majors and years of study, including alumni of all three UW campuses. As of June 10 at 8am PT, registration is open to UW Seattle students and alum. Registration will open to UW Bothell and UW Tacoma students and alumni on June 14 at 8am PT.
