Abstract: The National Park Service, in partnership with Portland State University, Washington State University—Vancouver, and the Vancouver National Historic Reserve Trust, is planning to conduct the sixth annual archaeological field school at the Vancouver National Historic Reserve (VNHR) in Vancouver, Washington. The field school will conduct a variety of activities that will educate students in the techniques of field archaeology and the interpretation of archaeology to the public. A lecture series will be held again this year that will include a number of regionally and nationally known archaeologists including Barbara Little, Steve De Vore, and Alfredo González-Ruibal. National Park Service archaeologists and student assistants from Portland State University and Washington State University will closely supervise the work. The research generated this year will help Fort Vancouver National Historic Site implement its General Management Plan, including collection of data to assist in the reconstruction of the original garden area outside the stockade.
