Abstract: This project will build a geographic information system dataset of classified vegetation polygons derived from 1994, 1:6000 delineated color infrared photography. The photography and vegetation classification were acquired for the purpose of supporting the development of an Environmental Impact Statement for off-road vehicle use in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve (WRST). This Task Agreement will support digital conversion of hardcopy vegetation classification for the Nabesna Road area of WRST. Products will include: wetlands information along existing trails and potential reroutes sufficient to allow for the preparation of a Statement of Findings for Wetlands; a refined National Wetlands Inventory map along these corridors; and, a vegetation map of the study area.
