Abstract: This project will systematically organize the Lassen Volcanic National Park photograph collection and create a functional database and cataloging system for these photographs. The Park photograph collection consists of approximately 4,000 black and white historic photos with safety negatives and color photographs, 12,700 original slides, and 9,900 duplicate slides. The photograph collection is routinely utilized by researchers, exhibit designers, historic architects, and for educational programs. Currently the photos are not organized in a manner that makes utilization efficient and inviting. Also, many original photos and slides are not properly cared for or housed resulting in deterioration and loss of non-renewable resources.
