Abstract: Project National Historical Park. A cultural landscape is a recognized cultural resource type by the National Park Service (NPS). The CLR is used as a planning document for cultural landscape and will provide technical guidance following the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Treatment of Historic Properties for site development and resource protection at Tech Area 18.
A CLR includes: a historic context (narrative) and timeline, a statement of significance, inventory of contributing and non-contributing resources, a set cultural landscape boundary, an integrity analysis (based on the National Register of Historic Places [NRHP] seven aspects of integrity), analysis of landscape character (through landscape characteristics), conditions assessments, and recommendations for stabilization and future work (based on previous work currently in process at the site.
The CLR will include a full set of treatment recommendations, schematic design drawings for site development, and a 3D digital model to understand site evolution, planning, and interpretive needs. Archaeological site protection (prehistoric and historic) will also be included in the document.
