Inclusive Excellence Fellow Spotlight: Expanding Access and Belonging through Inclusive Science Communication

We are pleased to share a presentation by Kylie Baker, PNW CESU Science Communication Specialist and participant in the University of Washington College of the Environment’s Inclusive Excellence Fellows Program, who spent the past nine months working to improve the accessibility and inclusivity of our communications.

Kylie’s project focused on ensuring that PNW CESU communications clearly reflect and serve diverse audiences — from partner institutions and federal agencies to members of the public interested in conservation and natural resource management. Her work included improving website structure and navigation, creating new resources such as a Frequently Asked Questions page and guides for prospective partners, and establishing more consistent accessibility standards across the site.
