PNW CESU FY24 Achievements: Advancing Collaboration and Research
The Pacific Northwest Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (PNW CESU) continues to foster impactful collaborations between federal and non-federal partners, supporting innovative research, technical assistance, and education that enhance resource stewardship. Over the past twenty-four fiscal years, PNW CESU federal agency partners have provided approximately $197 million to partners for 1,280 projects, many of which have involved undergraduate and graduate students pursuing research and coursework.
Throughout Fiscal Year 2024, approximately $14.6 million has been awarded for 140 project awards. The PNW CESU has focused on strengthening partnerships, expanding outreach, and advancing critical research initiatives. Below are some key accomplishments from this year.

In an uncertain political climate, many researchers and organizations across the country have faced challenges. The PNW CESU stands in support of those affected and encourages our partners to continue their invaluable work to the best of their abilities. Protecting our planet—its natural resources, biodiversity, and the well-being of all who depend on it—is no small task. Yet, through resilience and dedication, we can continue making a meaningful impact. While we may not control every external challenge, we can take pride in our commitment to positive change. Let us keep striving for both personal growth and the betterment of our world.
