Abstract: The Klamath Network comprises six National Park Service (NPS) unites in Southern Oregon and Northern California, including Crater Lake National Park, Lava Beds National Monument, Lassen Volcanic National Park, Oregon Caves National Monument, Redwood National and State Parks, and Whiskeytown National Recreation Area. The parks of Klamath Network are all strongly characterized by unique combinations of microclimatic features, and park staffs are very concerned about the potential effects of climate change on biological elements of interest within their boundaries. They are particularly concerned about the stability in summer fogs at Redwood, temperature and snowpack dynamics at the higher elevation parks, and linkages between general climatic features and extreme disturbance events. Through this Task Agreement, Oregon State University (OSU) will collaborate with NPS to analyze climatic data for parks of the Klamath Network in collaboration with park and network science staff. This work meant to provide insight into both temporal and spatial patterns and trends in selected climatic parameters both within and around the parks to support current management, inventory and monitoring, and to provide a quantitative baseline from which to assess effects of future climatic changes.
