Abstract: In accordance with the 2017 Amendment to the Programmatic Agreement between the NPS, the Hawai‘i State Historic Preservation Officer and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation Regarding Rehabilitation of the Historic Chief Petty Officer Bungalows on Ford Island, WWII Valor in the Pacific National Monument, Honolulu County, Hawai‘i and the regulations of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, and Section 110(a) of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 (16 U.S.C. 470f), as amended (NHPA), the NPS is required to prepare a Cultural Landscape Report (CLR) for the Ford Island Chief Petty Officer’s Bungalows Neighborhood and Battleship Row.

The CLR will address proposals for preservation and rehabilitation of the cultural landscape that meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties with Guidelines for the Treatment of Cultural Landscapes and Preservation Brief 36: Protecting Cultural Landscapes: Planning, Treatment and Management of Historic Landscapes. The focus of this CLR is to conduct historical research and document the change of the landscape over time, and, based on this research, develop design proposals new uses for the historic property that integrates the historical significance of the property into the larger history of the park
