Abstract: Funds under this award are to be used to document whether thin-and-bum habitat treatments increase annual reproductive output, body mass, overwinter survival, or natal recruitment of Northern Idaho Ground Squirrels (NIDGS). Funding these positions is critical towards carrying out actions identified in the 2003 Final Recovery Plan for the species.

The Service Will:
• Work closely with the Recipient on implementing recovery for NIDGS.
• Participate, collaborate, and provide technical expertise to carry out the scope of work.
• Provide needed permits to carry out the scope of work.
• Review interim and final performance reports.

The Recipient Will:
• Serve as principal investigator for proposed work.
• Develop and implement field study plan, field sampling, data collection, and data analysis.
• Overall coordination with the Service and other partners to carry out the scope of work.
