This award will support traditional uses and educational outcomes for Tribal and Native peoples and students in collaboration with Portland State University. These efforts align with Department of Interior S Strategic Plan, sections 3.1, 3.4, and 4.1. The project will provide opportunities to access federal lands and waters for recreation and education; Native community traditional use; and volunteer support and land tending to maintain and improve healthy ecosystems. In support of this award, USFWS will be substantially involved in the following ways: • Collaborate with PSU to develop clear opportunities for students that align with project goals/requirements (e.g. land tending; restoration planning; education) • Provide mentorship and career exploration opportunities for students (eg. information interviews, job shadows) • Participate in planning meetings with PSU and other participating agencies and organizations.
