Abstract: This project is a collaborative effort between the Southwest Alaska Network (SWAN) of the National Park Service (NPS) and Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota (SMUMN) to build a geographic information system dataset from historic black and white, and color infrared photography acquired for SWAN parks. This Task Agreement will support orthorectification of scanned aerial photos to IKONOS (satellite) base imagery for Lake Clark National Park & Preserve (LACL). Orthorectification of additional (1990s) air photos for LACL, and/or orthorectification of a similar photo series (1950s, 1980s, 1990s) for Katmai National Park & Preserve, may be added as additional work in the future, pending availability of sufficient funds and satisfactory progress. The products from this project support the NPS Alaska Landcover Mapping Program and provide key base cartographic references for the focal parks.
Deliverables:
- Orthorectification of Historic Imagery for Yukon Charley Rivers National Preserve (Natural Resource Report)
- Orthorectification of Historic Imagery for Lake Clark National Park and Preserve and Katmai National Park and Preserve (Natural Resource Technical Report)
