Abstract: Objective(s): In recent years, rangelands in the Pacific Northwest (PNW) have been heavily impacted by these factors. To respond effectively to rangelands heavily impacted by rangeland fires, invasive species, severe storms and drought , land managers need sufficient seed of appropriate species for site restoration, but they also need it to come from sources which have a good chance of being well-adapted to the site.
This project will develop GIS and tabular data products and methods to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of selecting seed for restoration and planning for seed collection and provide data that will assist in determining the most appropriate available seed for a particular restoration project.
Federal Award Performance Goals
1. Produce and compile coarse-scale climate, topographic and hydrologic metrics for the study area.
2. Determine important axes of habitat variability, create component scores and watershed tables.
3. Produce climatic-topographic-hydrologic seed zone maps for a variable number of zones.
4. Develop an Excel or R tool to prioritize available seed or identify collection areas for use at a site.
