Abstract: The purpose of this project is to assist Olympic National Park to plan for a collaborative research and monitoring program as part of Elwha River restoration. The product of this project will be a proposed Research and Monitoring Implementation Plan for Elwha River restoration. The Plan is tentatively intended to include: identification of objectives of an appropriate research and monitoring program; description of one or more suitable models for the structure and functioning of the program; identification of subjects to be covered by the program; identification of participants to enlist in the program; a general schedule for the various phases and activities of the program; general funding requirements and options for a funding plan; and a recommended strategy for establishing and funding the program, including — as appropriate — steps, schedule, and responsibilities.
