Principal Investigator: Daly, Christopher

Agreement Technical Representative: Webb, Melissa

Abstract:

The purpose of this agreement, between the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and Oregon State University, is to further develop a near real time QC/data estimation capability for SNOTEL, SNOLITE, and SCAN networks operated by NRCS in the conterminous United States. This work aligns with and advances the Snow Survey & Water Supply Forecasting Program’s statutory authority (7 CFR Part 612) in two critical ways: 1) by providing reliable, objective, timely, and serially complete information on the extent of the snow resource for western water managers and the general public, and 2) by increasing the accuracy of water supply forecasts through data quality improvements to primary forecast model predictors
