Abstract: The National Natural Landmarks Program was established in 1962 by the Secretary of the Interior to encourage the preservation of the best remaining examples of the biological and geological features composing the nation’s natural landscape. Currently, there are 581 National Natural Landmark Program sites nationwide with six designated in Oregon. This project will re-evaluate two natural areas, The Island near Madras, Oregon and Round Top Butte near Medford, Oregon as potential additions to the National Registry of Natural Landmarks.
