Abstract: Funds under this award are to be used to produce historical and projected daily streamflow data for select 4th level Hydrologic Unit Code (HUC8) basins in the Western U.S.

The Climate Impacts Group (CIG), University of Washington, Seattle will provide USFWS with averaged, routed, and/or biased-corrected flows for all HUC’s listed in Table 1 of the Scope of Work. Routed daily streamflow will be produced for all HUC’s except one costal HUC (1806006). Separate routing will be performed for the two sub-basins within HUC #18040005. Bias-corrected flows will be produced for three HUCs that have observed USGS data in close proximity to the outlet of each basin. Results will be provided for:
1. An observationally-based historical dataset (Livneh et al., 2013) for the period 1915-2011.
2. For a set of 10 CMIP5 model projections spanning the historical perioq 1950-2005 as well as the 21st century (2006-2099 2100) for both a low and a high greenhouse gas scenario (RCP’s 4.5 and 8.5, respectively; Van Vuuren et a1.,2011)
The result will be a single observationally-based time series for each HUC8, along with a set of 1OCMIPS historical simulations and 20 CMIPS projections for each site. Initial results will be produced using the observationally-based dataset, and will be delivered to USFWS by October 31 2014. Final results for all sites and future scen.arios will be delivered by January 31 2015.

The Service will clip climate change model projection grid cells with the watershed boundaries of interest to produce fractional coverage masks. These masks will be used to determine routed average daily flows.

The Recipient will supply USFWS with averaged, routed, and/or bias-corrected flows for all HUCs (watersheds) of interest. Routed daily stream flow will be produced for all HUCs except one coastal HUC (1806006). Separate routing will be perfonned for the two sub-basins within HUC #18040005. Bias-corrected flows will be produced for three HUCs that have observed USGS data in close proximity to the outlet of each basin. The result will be a single observationally-based time series for each HUC8, along with a set of 10 CMIPS historical simulations and 20 CMIPS projections for each site.
