Abstract:

This project compliments and builds upon WSSRI investment and capacity by expanding the production of diverse sagebrush ecotypes and forb plant materials to be ready for post-fire rehabilitation and recovery. The Sagebrush Steppe Plant Material Project to be funded through the Department of Interior, Bipartisan Infrastructure Law – Burned Area Rehabilitation (BIL-BAR) will support pro-active development of plant materials for post-wildfire restoration in partnership with the USFWS, BLM, and NPS. These plant materials are necessary to establish trajectories towards functioning structure, composition, and diversity in sagebrush steppe ecosystems. Documented and published protocols will add to the knowledge base on recalcitrant and difficult to grow species as identified by staff and experts from within the USFWS, BLM, and NPS.
