Abstract: The overall purpose of this cooperative agreement is to collect social information necessary for the development of visitor and resource management strategies in the Dyea area of Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park. Specifically, the social data collection and associated analyses are intended to be used in association with the Visitor Experience and Resource Protection (VERP) planning framework to be used in the future by park managers. The project is conceptualized as a three-year project with the first year’s efforts (2003) focused on creating a work plan and developing methodologies. During the second year (2004) the project will focus on data collection and data processing and during the third year (2005) on data analyses and report writing.
