Abstract: The Institute for Natural Resources (INR) will collaboratively develop a vegetation map of Mount Rainier National Park with the North Coast and Cascades Network. The INR team will use automated image segmentation and classification techniques in combination with traditional vegetation mapping techniques to develop the map. The INR team will work collaboratively with a mapping team which will include the National Park Service, NatureServe and the Washington Natural Heritage Program to meet National Park Service mapping standards, using vegetation Alliances, at the 1:24,000 scale, with a 0.5 ha minimum mapping unit at 80% overall and per class accuracy.
