Alternative Project Title: Wetland and Hydrography Updates for Alaska Park Units

Abstract:

Performance Goals – This project is a collaborative effort between the Alaska Region of the National Park Service (NPS) and Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota (SMUMN) to continue wetland mapping for parks that have not yet been mapped. Upgrade existing Target Map Units whose wetland mapping areas were at 5 acres to 1 acre or higher as technology advances.

Remap wetland areas whose current maps are outdated or have experienced significant changes since last mapped. Conduct field verification and investigation of sites surveyed to verify accuracy and support data gathering. As LiDAR data becomes available in the parks, provide Hydro-conditioning of digital elevation models to develop flow corrected elevation products for modeling.
