SDRG Research Brief

September 15, 2022

SDRG is pleased to share new research led by Pamela Matson, PhD, MPH, of Johns Hopkins Medicine on substance use prevention in primary care settings. SDRG’s co-founder J. David Hawkins, PhD, was a contributor to this research. Pathways to substance use disorder often begin in adolescence, and healthcare professionals routinely encounter patients and family members who are at risk for or affected by misuse of alcohol, tobacco, or other drugs. SDRG sees great potential for prevention efforts in primary care settings, and this article lays out several strategies for implementing them and removing possible barriers. I hope you find our Research Brief on this topic informative.
