Vision and Mission

Vision and Mission

We envision a world where individuals, families, schools, and communities have the tools, skills, and opportunities to promote healthy development and reduce social and behavior problems in every age group.

Promote healthy behaviors and positive social development among diverse populations by using prevention principles rooted in rigorous science. We:

  • Conduct collaborative research on systems and factors that influence human development
  • Collect high-quality data to support our research
  • Develop and test effective prevention interventions
  • Disseminate and implement the interventions and expertise produced by our research
  • Advocate science-based solutions to health and behavior problems
  • Help human service organizations to build high-quality community-wide prevention into the services they offer

  • Meaningful work: We conduct socially relevant research and share the results to achieve real-world impact.
  • Excellence and Integrity: We uphold the highest standards in every facet of our work.
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: We seek inclusive representation in the service of better science, creative problem solving, and stronger impact. We strive to eliminate systemic inequity in all areas of our research and work.
  • Community: We affirm the value of community as a force for change, both within SDRG and outside.
  • Opportunities, Skills, and Recognition: We provide opportunities for professional growth and recognize and support the contributions and accomplishments of our staff.
  • Innovation and Learning: We advance the field by employing new concepts and methods, and producing and disseminating state-of-the-art knowledge.
