Goals and Objectives

  • Gain exposure to patients with thermal injury and be involved in their overall care from admission through reconstruction.
  • Participate in the management of the metabolic and critical care issues encountered by severely ill patients
  • Actively participate in surgical procedures: including grafting procedures and treatment of major complicated wounds
  • Develop critical care techniques: including subclavian line insertion, pulmonary management, Swan-Ganz catheters and cardiac output, etc.

Check-in Instructions: Students will receive an email verifying their enrollment in SURG 682 approximately six weeks prior to the start of the rotation.

UW Students: There is no additional credentialing needed for this rotation.

Visiting Students: No less than six weeks prior to the start of the rotation, please ensure that you have provided all the information that was requested in your VSLO offer letter. Additionally, please advise the site coordinator who your completed grade evaluation should be returned to following the completion of your rotation.
