- Be able to define intermittent claudication and localize potential sites of arterial compromise based on history and physical.
- Be able to discuss significance of peripheral arterial occlusive disease as a "marker" for disseminated arteriosclerosis with life threatening consequences.
- Be able to list major risk factors and discuss the importance of controlling these factors in prolonging life and preserving limb (medical management more important than limb intervention).
- Be able to outline the general principles of intervention (catheter-based and surgical).
