VASCULAR SURGERY
Case #8 -
A 72 year old with intermittent L eye visual changes

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
3.) In carotid artery disease, what physical findings may be present?

The physical examination may be normal when the patient is seen. There may be a bruit noted over the diseased carotid artery. If the source of embolus was the heart, a cardiac arrhythmia may be detected. On examination of the retina, cholesterol ("Hollenhorst") crystals may be seen.
