- Be able to discuss the clinical presentation, mechanisms, differential diagnosis, and need for urgent evaluation of transient ischemic attack.
- Be able to describe the appropriate diagnostic workup.
- Given symptomatic status, severity of stenosis, and presence of co-morbidities, be able to choose the appropriate therapy (medical or surgical).
- Be able to contrast "malignant" nature of symptomatic disease due to advanced stenosis with relatively "benign" nature of asymptomatic disease.
