Case #8 - A 72 year old with intermittent L eye visual changes

 
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
  1. Be able to discuss the clinical presentation, mechanisms, differential diagnosis, and need for urgent evaluation of transient ischemic attack.
  2. Be able to describe the appropriate diagnostic workup.
  3. Given symptomatic status, severity of stenosis, and presence of co-morbidities, be able to choose the appropriate therapy (medical or surgical).
  4. Be able to contrast "malignant" nature of symptomatic disease due to advanced stenosis with relatively "benign" nature of asymptomatic disease.
