DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
5.) What is the mechanism for a TIA due to carotid disease?

The mechanism for a transient ischemic attack due to carotid disease is more commonly embolization of plaque material and/or fibrin material. Less often the TIA is due to decreased pressure flow distal to the stenosis.
