DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
6.) How would you evaluate this patient?

Diagnostic evaluation:

  • Duplex ultrasonography of carotid arteries

  • Arteriogram - not needed if the duplex study gives good definition of the disease

  • Brain imaging test (MRI or CT scan)

  • Cardiac workup if the above tests are normal or equivocal
