Currently there is no diamond mining or explorations being done in Republic of Congo. In 2004, investigations where made in Republic of Congo by the Kimberly Process. The process came to a conclusion to stop conflict diamonds from entering the legitimate diamond supply chain. The officials from the Kimberly Process said that the Republic of Congo could not account for or give proof of where they got the large quantities of diamonds. As a result the Republic of Congo was expelled and put off of the Kimberly Process participants list.
