Does the University of Washington offer VA Workstudy positions?
Currently, only our office (Student Veteran Life) offers VA Workstudy positions. These are competitive positions, and we typically retain student workers for the duration of their time at the University of Washington. As individuals graduate, we will have openings available on a first-come, first-served basis, with the caveat that we (the staff) need to have seen you in the office, interacting with other students, and showing an interest in the community. We do not hire work-studies that have no affiliation with the office and will generally only hire individuals who have an established presence within the community. This is to mitigate issues that may arise due to the uncertainty of policies implemented by SVL or the mission of our office.
If you are interested in being a VA Workstudy at SVL, please send an email to vetlife@uw.edu indicating your interest, and we will respond and put you on the waitlist for workstudy positions!
Does SVL have a newsletter to update us on events and current events on campus?
Yes! If you are identified as a student veteran through the University of Washington, we will send e-mails throughout the quarter regarding events, updates on the office, and information pertinent to your time at the UW, as well as alterations in VA education benefits.

How is SVL funded for students?
The Office of Student Veteran Life is funded through a variety of supporting structures, including:
- General Operating Fund (State of Washington)
- Student Activities Fee (SAF)
- Student Technology Fee (STF)
- Private donations via the University of Washington and our supporters
- Veteran Affairs Workstudy Program
