Position: Studio Technician, Multiple Openings
Hourly Wage: $20 – $25 per hour depending upon qualifications
Schedule: Regular Quarterly Hours, Part Time, Up to 25 hours per week

Northwest Pottery Collective is a new, locally owned pottery studio in Issaquah, WA that provides a wide-range of ceramic art classes, open studio memberships, and specialty supply sales to the community. The mission of Northwest Pottery Collective is to provide a welcoming and encouraging environment for ceramic artists of all ages and abilities to engage with the ceramic arts and the community. At Northwest Pottery Collective, the Studio Technician is primarily responsible for maintaining studio equipment, studio organization and cleanliness, and operating Open Studio hours. The Studio Technician will perform all duties during Open Studio hours and provide general supervision of Open Studio members. The Studio Technician will also process retail customer payments during Open Studio hours and answer member/customer questions as needed.
Studio Technician duties at Northwest Pottery Collective include:
· Glaze mixing and maintenance
· Loading/unloading and firing kilns (∆04 bisque, ∆5 glaze)
· Kiln (and kiln furniture), slab roller, extruder, wheel, pugmill, and clay trap maintenance and troubleshooting
· Supervising Open Studio hours
· Organizing student/member work
· Clay reclaim and pugging
· Providing studio orientation tours to new members as needed
· Ordering supplies and retail sales as needed
· Customer service and communication as needed
· Ensuring a clean and organized studio environment, with weekly deep-cleaning tasks
· Processing payments, creating/updating member/customer accounts, and other administrative tasks as needed
· Commitment to a regular schedule on a quarterly basis that may include evenings and weekends
Qualifications
· Minimum 1 year experience as a Studio Technician at a public or private institution
· Preferred: Minimum 2 years experience as a Studio Technician at a public or private institution
· Preferred: Experience processing customer payments, creating/supporting customer accounts, and ordering
· Experience maintaining studio equipment including kilns, wheels, pug mills, extruders, clay traps, and slab rollers
· Excellent organization and communication skills
· Adept at proactively identify and solve problems
· Have a helpful, friendly, and energetic attitude
· Be comfortable with occasionally serving alcohol during events and be able to attain appropriate permits

At Northwest Pottery Collective, we are hiring for multiple Studio Technician positions to help maintain and support studio operations, as well as supervise our Open Studio hours, which are designed to fit around our class offerings. We offer classes on a rolling quarterly
basis so our Open Studio hours (during which the Studio Technician is working) will flex every quarter. We will require commitment to a full quarter schedule prior to the beginning of the quarter, but we cannot guarantee that the Open Studio hours will not change during the quarter.
