Overview

The Children, Families and Neighborhoods research projects are actually two projects that have been in progress since 1997. The first project, CFN, was funded by a 2-year Royalties Research Fund Award from the University of Washington. In this project, we interviewed 106 families of children in the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades in the 1997-98 school year, and interviewed 89 of those same families a second time the following year.

The second project, Kid’s World, is an expansion of the first project. The families who participate and their experiences are very similar to those of the first project. However, the Kid’s World Project is funded by a grant from the National Institutes of Mental Health and will run for a longer time. Families who participate in this project will be interviewed 3 times instead of twice. Also, we will interview up to 140 families this year (1999-2000), following them for 3 years, and another 140 families in two years (2001-02). If you are interested in participating in the 99-00 or 01-02 cohorts, please contact us (click Interested in participating?).
