Dawg Prints Systems Updated – Please Redownload Pharos Remote

Dawg Prints Support has just finished a minor update to several backend components of the Pharos system. This SP1 upgrade allows us to be up to date for the beginning of the school year. If you use Pharos Remote you will need to reinstall the client. Please find the installer here.

Dawg Prints Systems Upgrade Complete

As of 1100pm the Dawg Prints system is completely up and running. All stations have been updated and patrons will be able to release jobs. Small scale tests immediately after the update did not reveal any major issues with sending and releasing jobs.

For those labs that use Pharos Remote to assist students you will need to download the newest version of the application. It can be found here.

Dawg Prints Upgrade Now Beginning

We are now beginning the process of updating our servers and release stations. Printing services will be down system wide for the next 30 minutes. Patrons will be unable to release jobs until the Dawg Prints Station has been updated. We will provide a new post once this process has been completed.

Update: Dawg Prints Server Upgrade – Outages Expected – Weekend of December 14th

Update: The upgrade has been pushed back to the afternoon of Saturday, December 15th. Please see the original message below for further details.

On the evening of Saturday, December 15th, Friday, December 14th, Dawg Prints Support staff will be performing an upgrade to the Pharos print server software. This upgrade is planned to take place around 5pm and print services will be intermittently disrupted while the upgrade takes place. The server upgrade is expected to take no longer than one hour.

After the print servers have been updated Dawg Prints staff will be updating the Dawg Prints Station kiosks located in each of your labs. We will be conducting these updates remotely throughout the weekend. Please do not turn off your printer or kiosk during the interim. We expect to have all the stations updated and working by Sunday Saturday afternoon at the latest. Users will not be able to release their jobs until the stations are updated. Please let us know if you plan to be open during the weekend and we will prioritize your location.

For the last several weeks we have been testing this new version and have found that it does not affect client machines. Any previously installed popups for Windows and OS X should function normally. If you have any popup or kiosk issues please email Dawg Prints Support at uwcshelp@uw.edu. We will be posting updates of our progress on this blog. Please check here before sending any requests.
