Global increase in diabetes means higher demand for insulin

A study in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology found that a global diabetes epidemic is expected to increase demand for insulin by more than 20% by 2030, but insulin will not be available for half of the estimated 79 million people with type 2 diabetes. Global insulin use of the 1,000-unit vials is projected to increase to 634 million by 2030 from 526 million this year.
