Insulin levels stabilize after 7 years of annual declines, study finds

A study in Diabetes Care showed that insulin levels decline by nearly 50% every year for seven years in type 1 diabetes patients, but stabilize thereafter. UK researchers evaluated 1,549 type 1 diabetes patients and said the findings indicate patients will keep any remaining working beta-cells seven years after diagnosis, which could lead to new therapies.
