Insulin sensitivity in diabetes not affected by vitamin D, study finds

Norwegian researchers found no significant changes in insulin sensitivity or insulin secretion between type 2 diabetes patients who received a single dose of 400,000 IU oral vitamin D3 and those on placebo. The findings in Diabetes Care, based on 62 adults with type 2 diabetes and vitamin D deficiency, showed that vitamin D supplementation also had no significant effect on glycemic control or endogenous glucose production.
